Our client is a privately owned and operated supplier to the FMCG and Building industries of New Zealand. An opportunity exists for a very forward-thinking Warehouse Manager, to take a hands-on leadership position, within their Whanganui based warehouse and distribution centre.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day distribution centre operations and the performance of a team of up 4-5 staff. This is a hands-on role, and your primary focus will ensure that the daily operational activities are completed on time and in an accurate and safe manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing hands-on leadership to the DC team, ensuring best practice and teamwork.
- Staff management in respect to recruitment, productivity, accuracy and training.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous operational improvement and implement changes
- Inventory management – maintain accuracy through location maintenance
- Lead and participate in regular stocktakes and or cycle counts
- Accurately pick, pack, label and arrange despatch for all outbound movements ensuring product is suitably packaged.
- Accept and inspect all inwards movements, including devanning containers, ensuring products are labeled correctly and put away to ensure correct identification.
- Complete Inwards documentation and files, including MPI requirements.
- Optimisation of the computer operating system.
- Ensure that the company DIFOT is achieved
- Promote positive customer relations by prompt and efficient processing of all orders/goods
- Regulatory responsibility for the site - including, MPI, H & S and Fire and Safety
- Create a positive, enthusiastic workforce who take ownership.
- Implement the changes to improve processes
- Strong forward planning abilities

- Experience in systems and utilising technology is necessary

- Good Health & Safety knowledge
- Confident computer skills, having extensive WHM systems experience
- Strong forward planning abilities
- MPI Accredited / container experience would be a bonus
- Confident communication with customers and at all levels within the business.
- At least 4+ years in Warehouse/ Distribution management
- Current fork hoist license
