The Company

Our client is a leading manufacturer and wholesaler of a wide range of Construction and Hardware products which are also supplied to the Agriculture and Manufacturing industries. They have been operating in New Zealand for over 30 years and have a national representation.  The company has another 14 warehouses and manufacturing locations spread across Australia and Asia and employs approximately 300 staff.

They have the resources of a medium sized public company, combined with the flexibility of a private company. The company continues to experience solid growth in New Zealand and prides itself on being proactive and innovative in developing new markets.

To support this growth, the company is seeking a commercially focused person to play a key role of NZ Retail Hardware - Sales and Key Account Manager located in their Auckland based branch.

This is a hands-on role that will suit someone with skills and experience across both Sales and Key Account management, who will get amongst the action, and take ownership and impact results.

The Job

  • We are seeking an energetic person, experienced in Retail Hardware with the ability to drive the roll out of new ranges across large Retail store networks in both metro Auckland and North Island regional areas.
  • You will be required to manage and develop these customer accounts to ensure smooth range conversions of Hardware Trade outlets with, the support of our experienced Retail Sales team.
  • This is a hands-on role where you will lead by example.
  • Experience in Retail merchandising or store fit out will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in Key Account Management, as this role will include engagement with Customer's National Buying offices.
  • Overcoming customer and operational issues by obtaining support from key Manufacturing, Marketing, IT, Admin and Operations people in Australia

The Person: Ideally the candidate should have:

  • Skills acquired through both Key Account management and Sales experience
  • Experience with Hardware, Fastenings, Construction, Engineering or similar products
  • An energetic hands-on people manager, with genuine leadership skills 
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  •  Strong organisational, time management and an attention to detail
  • Clear thinker, able to problem solve and provide solutions
  • Focused on driving efficiencies to enhance customer service
  • Intermediate Excel and Word skills
  • Be a hands-on, hard-working and committed manager
